Bradford high street set to lose ANOTHER shop, as major supermarket confirms closure plans
It's blaming "changing shopping habits"
A major supermarket is proposing closing its store in Bradford's Broadway shopping centre, with the city set to lose another shop.
M&S has confirmed has looking at shutting the shop, and is talking to staff about offering alternative roles where possible.
In a staatement, regional manager Vickie Smith said: "In recent years, we have invested £20 million in our stores in West Yorkshire, including our new 97,000 sqft store at the White Rose shopping centre which opened last year and created over 230 new jobs.
"And we’re looking forward to making further investment this year to renew the Foodhall at our nearby M&S Pudsey store.
“Over the last ten years, we’ve also invested more than £120 million in our Bradford distribution centre, using innovative tech to build automated systems so we can keep growing our online business.
"Over 1,800 people are employed at the Bradford site and we will invest another £13 million this year to keep growing our capacity and serve more customers."
It is not known when the store will close.
