Bradford charity puts on English and Maths lessons for refugee children
They're helping children in the area, so that they can reach the same academic level as their peers
A Bradford charity is teaching refugee children English and Maths, so that they don't fall behind other children their age.
They are starting classes next week, and already have 35 children ready to attend from a recent open day.
Gulssom Akhtar is from the Bradford Foundation Trust, she said:
"A lot of the parents I've spoke to say our kids don't really enjoy school, some kids might feel they are being bullied by others because of their lack of English.
"When homework is given, they can't really do it, because it might be academically higher than where they are at, sometimes kids might be ashamed or embarrassed.
"Once we have that relationship with those families, they feel so comfortable, they will ring us and say right our kids are struggling with English, we also don't have enough food this week, we are financially struggling, what do we do? It's all based on trust."
Hossein was smuggled into England when he was 14 years old. He was in a freezer, with temperatures of -18 degrees, for around 15-16 hours.
He had to flee his country because of safety, so his parents gave him to the smugglers. He tried for 11 months to get to England.

When he arrived in England, they didn't believe he was 14, and sent him to a college. However, everyone at the school was a refugee, so everyone spoke in their native language.
Hossein could already speak some English, and felt he wasn't learning, as people at the college hardly spoke in English, expect from in the classroom.
He decided to change college and went to do acting for a year. He was the only person who didn't speak English as a first language.
He said:
"The first year they sent me to a colleague that was all refugees, don't get me wrong it was great, but everyone was talking their own language, so even the English I knew, I was forgetting."
