A MANUFACTURING company plans to install over 3,500 solar panels on the roof of its Bradford warehouse.

US based Borgwarner has a Turbo Systems Division based on the Euroway Industrial Estate, and the factory employs around 400 people.

The company has this week submitted a planning application to Bradford Council to fit a huge solar array made up of 3,516 panels on the roof of the factory.

The application says: “The installation will generate clean, renewable energy, contributing to the site’s sustainability goals and reducing reliance on grid electricity.

“The panels have a sleek, uniform black finish that complements the industrial aesthetic of the factory building. The anti-reflective glass coating significantly reduces glare, making the installation suitable for proximity to residential areas, public roads, and aviation zones.”

A decision on the application is expected in March.
