Asda worker stabbed in Killingbeck after suspected shoplifter detained by staff

A shop worker in Killingbeck has been stabbed after staff detained a suspected shoplifter.

Police were called to Asda on Killingbeck Drive at 10:47pm last night(06/03) after a man received injuries to his arm.

He was taken to hospital where he received stitches.

A 22-year-old man was arrested at the scene, but became ill while he was being transported in police custody - he's now in a critical but stable condition.

West Yorkshire Police say the Independent Office for Police Conduct has been informed.
