A Bradford charity says there's been a real recognition from the community that people in Afghanistan need their help and support.

BEACON supports asylum seekers and refugees from many countries including Afghanistan.

The evacuation operation to get people out before the deadline of the 31st of August is continuing.

Katy Armitstead from there said:

"One key thing that you can do, is contact your local MP and raise the issue, and make sure that the issues around refugees are on their agenda and highlight how important it is, because I think the more people that speak up for refugees, the better chance we have that the government will listen and offer support both now and in the future.

"It's obviously a terrifying time for Afghan people watching their country fall apart, as well for refugees already in the UK, to look at what's going on over there and might still have family and friends in Afghanistan and to witness what's going on, is really traumatic."
