85 year old man dies in Wakefield crash

Two vehicles were involved in the collision close to Midgley on Saturday

An 85 year old man has died following a crash in the Wakefield district over the weekend.

It happened on the A637 Bar Lane at around 12:30pm on Saturday (November 23).

A red Seat Arona was travelling in the direction of Midgley when it crossed onto the opposite side of the road and hit a black BMW 116D travelling on the opposite direction near Bank Farm.

The Seat driver was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the BMW was treated in hospital and has since been discharged.

Witnesses to the collision are being urged to contact West Yorkshire Police on 101.
