A warehouse in Wakefield has been destroyed, after a large blaze broke out at the industrial site in Ossett.

Around 80 firefighters spent the night tackling the fire, which began at around 08:20pm on Wednesday.

One man living nearby told us he heard "explosions" through the night, and at one point, the roof "collapsed."

Dale Street and surrounding residential areas were closed, however those have since reopened, and police have confirmed no homes were evacuated.

The Fire Service says two crews remain on the scene, but the operation is now being scaled down.

Huge smoke pillars seen over Ossett

Pictures on social media show large pillars of smoke rising over nearby houses, with fire crews from across West Yorkshire involved in the response.

There's a warning that there could be some problems with power and water, and the fire service is also urging people living nearby to keep their doors and windows closed.
