Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr will perform together at The Grammys later this month, organisers have confirmed.

The music legends will pick up The Beatles’ coveted 2014 Recording Academy Lifetime Achievement Award at The Staples Center ceremony and will treat the global audience to a live performance.

The Beatles’s lifetime achievement honour comes exactly 50 years after the band won their first Grammy Awards in 1964 - Best New Artist and Best Performance by a Vocal Group for ‘A Hard Day’s Night’.

They went on to scoop a further seven Grammys including Album of the Year in 1968 for ‘Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band’.

Taking place in Los Angeles on Sunday 26th January, the 56th Grammy Awards also boasts performances from Carole King with Sara Bareilles, Daft Punk with Stevie Wonder and Nile Rodgers, and Willie Nelson.
