The pair have now made up

Isle Of Wight festival organiser John Giddings has responded to negative comments he made about Ed Sheeran last year.

Speaking on a panel about festivals, Giddings reportedly claimed that the industry was failing to produce headline-worthy artists, adding: “If boring acts like Ed Sheeran are the future then we’re all screwed!”

Responding publicly to the comments, Ed hit back on Twitter, writing: “He asked me to do the festival last year ago funnily enough and I couldn’t do it.”

However in an interview with Music Week, Giddings has now spoken of his admiration for the ‘Thinking Out Loud’ hitmaker.

He said: “I watch a TV show called Sons Of Anarchy and I’ve started getting the playlist on Spotify. I loved this song, and I found out it was him.”

When asked about the incident, Giddings said: “I’ve since met him and we had a good time together and laughed it off. It was a throwaway comment really. Good on him, he’s sold out three Wembley Stadiums and you can’t complain about that. The guy’s a serious artist.”

Sheeran and Giddings met each other for the first time since the comments at the 2014 MTV Europe Music Awards in Edinburgh, with the latter tweeting a picture of the pair proving their reconciliation.
