Elton John Announces Ultimate 'Goodbye Yellow Brick Road' Reissue

Elton John has announced details of a very special reissue of his seminal 1973 album ‘Goodbye Yellow Brick Road’.

!Digitally remastered for 2014, the album will be released on CD, vinyl, limited edition yellow vinyl and a five-disc CD/DVD box set on Monday 24th March.

The deluxe edition and box set versions will come complete with a suite of nine cover versions of ‘Goodbye Yellow Brick Road' songs by Ed Sheeran, Emeli Sandé, Fall Out Boy, Hunter Hayes, Imelda May, John Grant, Miguel featuring Wale, The Band Perry and Zac Brown Band.

The box set features a recording of ‘Live At Hammersmith 1973’ on CD, a DVD of Bryan Forbes’ 1973 film ‘Elton John and Bernie Taupin Say Goodbye To Norma Jean and Other Things’, along with a 100-page illustrated hardback book packed with rare photos, memorabilia and a new essay containing interviews with Elton John and Bernie Taupin.

Recorded at Château d'Hérouville in France and produced by Gus Dudgeon, ‘Goodbye Yellow Brick Road’ spawned the huge singles ‘Saturday Night’s Alright For Fighting’, ‘Bernie and the Jets’, ‘Candle In The Wind’ and the album title track.

Originally released in October 1973, it shot to number one on both sides of the Atlantic selling over 1million copies in the UK and 7million units Stateside.
