Badfinger's 'Baby Blue' Streams Up 9000% After Breaking Bad Finale

Badfinger’s 1971 rock anthem ‘Baby Blue’ has enjoyed a 9000% streams surge following the final Breaking Bad finale yesterday.

!The British band's song, which was never released as a single on home turf, was played in the dramatic final minutes of the critically acclaimed show prompting an immediate monumental surge in streams.

On Spotify streams of the track have rocketed 9000% and show little sign of slowing down.

According to Billboard, in the US (where the finale was aired a day earlier) ‘Baby Blue’ sales are up 3000% and it looks likely to dent the Top20 this weekend.

Although it has never sold more than 1,000 copies in a week Stateside, the track was downloaded 5,000 times on Sunday night alone.

Breaking Bad creator Vince Gilligan has said that ‘Baby Blue’ fitted perfectly with main character Walter White’s love affair with his blue crystal meth creation.

‘Baby Blue’ is lifted from Badfinger’s 1971 album ‘Straight Up’, which was produced by Todd Rundgren and George Harrison.
