Abba’s Frida releases first song in over a decade
Her last song was in 2004
Former Abba star Frida has released ‘1865’, the first new music from the singer in over 10 years.
The new single sees Frida reunite with Dan Daniell, who she recorded ‘Lieber Gott’ with in 2003.
‘1865’ marks the 150th anniversary of the first ascent of the Matterhorn in the Swiss town of Zermatt, where the pair currently live.
Frida announced her retirement from recording in 2004 but did appear for a performance of ‘Morning Has Broken’ by Cat Stevens for the 2010 album ‘Reconnection’ by Georg Wadenius.
She also recorded for the track ‘The Sun Will Never Shine Again’, which was done for a Jon Lord (Deep Purple) classic project ‘Beyond The Notes’ in 2004.
All proceeds from ‘1865’ will go to the foundation ‘Frida and Dan Daniell for Children’, which Frida set up alongside Dan Daniell. The foundation supports small projects in Switzerland but also in Europe and around the world.
