In our not-so-humble opinion we believe that Leeds is the best city in the UK. We assume that you already realise how superior Leeds is, but just in case you needed any more reasons or bragging rights - have a read of our totally unbiased list of reasons why Leeds is so fantastic.

1. Leeds provides the perfect balance of city and countryside

Leeds is truly the ideal gateway to the Yorkshire countryside; where else in the country can you drive from a city to somewhere as gloriously green and open as Otley Chevin in under half an hour? Not to mention that the air is far better quality than you get living near some cities, meaning that even a few minutes outside of the centre in a suburb, you feel far away from the bustling rush of city life.

2. The green spaces

Kirkstall Abbey, Roundhay Park, Ilkley Moore - we have it all here. Some of the most beautiful landscapes and sites are within a few minutes' walk of our houses, something you cannot get anywhere else. Whether it's days out with the kids or a romantic picnic for two, there are plenty of beautiful and, more importantly, FREE green spaces around and about that we are blessed to have.

3. Leeds folk are the friendliest around

People in the north in general are a friendly sort, but Leeds in particular seems special for this reason; we say hello to each other on the streets, have 5 minute chats with the lady scanning our shopping and have a natter with the elderly man sat next to us on the bus about the miserable weather. This just makes the whole city have a friendly feel that you truly miss whenever you travel anywhere else, (not that you'd want to).

4. It's beautiful

Leeds is a city whose architecture is unrivalled - a wonderful mix of new and old, of skyscrapers and rolling hills. Don't believe us? Take a look at some photography from around Leeds:

5. The food

Whether it's your mum's unbeatable Yorkshire puddings with the Sunday roast, or a good cup of Yorkshire Tea, you'd struggle to get better elsewhere. Not only that, but if you fancy treating yourself to the occasional meal out, you'd be far stretched to find somewhere better than Leeds. We have restaurants from all different cultures, at all different prices, and some of the best street food in the country.

6. The nightlife

The Otley Run, Call Lane, the many, many nightclubs: it wouldn't be a list about Leeds without highlighting what we're so well known for. Not only do we have bar crawls and nights out a-plenty, we have lots of local breweries and beers: who doesn't love a beer brewed a few streets over from the pub?

7. The diversity of culture

Leeds is a city with one of the most diverse sets of people in the country, which is part of what makes it such a fantastic city. This also means we can get to enjoy great annual events like Pride and the West Indian Carnival, Diwali and Eid celebrations alike.

8. Yorkshire pride

The best part about living in Leeds? People from Yorkshire are proud to be from Yorkshire. We even have our own day in the calendar - it's August 1st and shame on you if you didn't already have that memorised. We also like to chant about Yorkshire at festivals, concerts and sport matches to name but a few. We can hardly be blamed for being so proud of our local area when it's this fantastic, can we?
