Today it has been revealed that Dancing On Ice contestant Max Evans will have to dance with a different partner this weekend. The shock news has come as ITV revealed that the rugby player's usual skating partner Ale Izquierdo has to miss this week's episode due to illness.

A statement released by ITV said, "Owing to illness, Max Evan's partner Ale will not be performing this weekend. He will instead be dancing alongside Brandee Malto."

No further details have been revealed at this time.

Professional skater Brandee Malto left the competition last week with Coronation Street's Antony Cotton. Brandee and Antony found themselves in the bottom three for the double elimination, having a skate off against Donna Air and Mark Hanretty, and Max and Ale.

Like all skating partners in the series, Max and Ale have been skating together since the beginning, see their performance to 'Always' by Bon Jovi below.

Along with Max; Alex Beresford, Brooke Vincent, Jake Quickenden and Kem Cetinay are left in the competition which enters its last few weeks.

We caught up with Matt Evers, ice skating professional from ITV's Dancing On Ice to find out what involvement they have with helping the remaining celebrity skaters after they have been voted out.

Brandee and Matt also revealed who they think will win the series...

This year's Dancing On Ice has been very successful following a four year hiatus, with the return of ice skating legends Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean, who now have the roles of head judges. Last weekend it was revealed that the Olympic gold medalists would be treating the audience to a performance during the last episode of the series, however what they will be performing to has not been revealed yet.

Fans were quick to take to social media to express their excitement at the announcement, with many saying they had been hoping for this news!

However, a few seemed a bit confused, thinking that the Olympic gold medalists would be competing AGAINST the celebrities in the final!

Dancing On Ice has already been confirmed for another series, with ITV saying, “The show's welcome back has exceeded our expectations and it's been fantastic to see the audience at home loving it. The recommission is a no brainer and it's brilliant for everyone involved to know it'll be back next year.”

Dancing On Ice continues on Sundays on ITV at 6pm.
