Lucy-Jo Hudson is on a bit of a life rollercoaster at the moment. The former Coronation Street actress may have split from her husband of nine years and fellow soap actor Alan Halsall, but she does have a new job - even if it is on a rival soap.

Lucy-Jo, who announced her split from Alan earlier this month, has reportedly signed up to appear on Hollyoaks - and we've now been given even more details about the character she'll be playing.

Apparently, the 35-year-old's character will be named Donna-Marie and will arrive in Hollyoaks with her son Romeo in tow, played by Owen Warner.

A TV source told The Mirror, "Lucy will play a reckless woman desperately trying to hide a heartbreaking past," adding that Donna-Marie will have a difficult relationship with her son, who is set to try "get-rich-quick" schemes to help his "rebellious" mother.

Lucy-Jo, who left Corrie in 2006, also had a long-running stint on ITV drama Wild At Heart alongside Amanda Holden, as well as a 14-episode appearance on Doctors as the evil Rhiannon Davis which earned her a 2017 Soap Award for Villain of the Year.

Her acting CV gives her more than enough chops to tackle this brand new role - and whilst it might be completely different to what she's done before, we're sure she'll boss it.

This comes less than a month after Lucy-Jo and Alan, who are parents to four-year-old Sienna, announced their split via a statement which read, "I can confirm that Al and I are in the process of divorcing.

"We remain friends and devoted Mummy and Daddy to our daughter Sienna. We would appreciate privacy so that we can focus on Sienna's continued happiness."

Lucy-Jo's arrival date in Hollyoaks hasn't yet been confirmed.
