Viewers have enjoyed this year's series of I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! seemingly more than its predecessors. Although there's been much less drama and shouting that in previous years of I'm A Celebrity, we've loved it even more simply for the fact of how lovely the campmates have been to each other.

It could be in part to do with how open and honest The Chase's Anne Hegerty has been about her Autism, as the other celebrities definitely rallied around her until her exit from the jungle on Wednesday (5th Dec).

Although Anne threw herself into the jungle experience, after taking part in one of the very first Bushtucker trials - in which she had to try and input four-digit codes into locks whilst having creepy crawlies dropped on her - Anne was ruled out of many trials on medical grounds.

Whilst the public were still able to vote for the celebrities to take part in the trials, there seemed to be a recurring theme that Anne would be unable to take part on medical grounds - and although many thought it could be to do with her Autism, others wondered whether there was something else going on.

However, Anne has now cleared up the confusion, telling Metro.co.uk, "I was quite freaked out by the first Bushtucker trial and only getting two stars. I could have got four, but either I couldn’t line up the numbers on the padlocks or I wasn’t pushing the spring down properly.

"I don’t want to go into more details as I’d be giving away production secrets, but the 'exemption on medical grounds' thing thereafter was really more on the basis of how I’d reacted psychologically to that one, rather than because I’m a fat lump or anything."

Anne's exclusion from the trials became something of a running theme on the show, with presenter Declan Donnelly referring to it throughout the episodes. Many took to Twitter to share their own jokes about the situation, with one writing, 'Surprised Anne isn’t ruled out of karaoke on medical grounds' and another tweeting, 'So Anne's not banned from dancing on medical grounds!'

I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! continues tonight at 9pm on ITV.
