Although it's been a massive 20 years since the show finished, the show's co-creator has now confirmed some very exciting news! Taking to Twitter in a series of tweets Graham Linehan tweeted, 'Hey, guess what.'

He then continued the hype in a second tweet which read, 'It’s very exciting.'

Quickly following up with another tweet which read, ‘Pope Ted—The Father Ted Musical’ written by Arthur Mathews and myself, music by Neil Hannon, is almost written. I just thought you’d like to know. THIS IS NOT A DRILL!'

Continuing to reveal, 'It’s the real final episode of Father Ted.'

On hearing this exciting news hundreds of fans commented saying it was the 'best thing' with another saying they were 'spoilt'.

There was also a lot of speculation as to who would be taking on the iconic roles in the new Father Ted musical, so Graham then continued his tweets saying, 'Lots of people sending me casting suggestions and audition requests for the Ted musical. Might be better to leave it until the end of June when I'm getting together with the rest of the gang!
