Coronation Street viewers were left in floods of tears after Monday night's episode. Fans watched from behind tear-stained cushions as Kevin Webster had to make the impossible decision to have his son Jack's foot amputated following his sepsis diagnosis.

After Kevin's daughter Sophie hadn't been aware of the severity of his condition to begin with whilst she was looking after him, she eventually took him to hospital where he was diagnosed with the illness.

Kevin initially couldn't deal with his son's diagnosis, and refused to acknowledge how bad the situation had become. When advised by the consultant that they would have to amputate Jack's foot to keep him alive, Kevin initially refused as he didn't want his son to miss out on what he deemed to be a normal childhood.

However, he came around and realised that this would be the only way to save his son's life, signing the papers to have his son's foot amputated.

Corrie viewers were moved to tears by the episodes, taking to Twitter to praise the acting of Michael Le Vell and Brooke Vincent, who play Kevin and Sophie Webster.

Brooke then took to Twitter to thank fans for their comments, adding that she would pass on the messages to Michael and young Kyran Bowes, who plays Jack on the soap.

Bosses at Corrie also took to Twitter, reminding fans of the show where they could go to get help, advice and support if they've been affected by the storyline.

Michael Le Vell recently spoke to Digital Spy about how Kevin would deal with the storyline, saying, "He doesn't know where to turn or who to talk to. He's in his own little world and he feels lost. He still can't understand the situation they're in and how quickly it's escalated.

"Jack was a promising little footballer and Kevin had high hopes for him, then suddenly out of the blue he's got a life-and-death situation on his hands and he finds himself in a world of despair."
