Coronation Street viewers have been left reeling over the past few weeks after David Platt was raped by his supposed friend Josh Tucker. As David's behaviour steadily worsened, resulting in him seriously injuring his brother-in-law to be, Gary Windass, things were looking to get even bleaker for the poor hairdresser.

Thankfully, after confiding in his girlfriend Shona Ramsey, who tracked down another of Josh's victims, David found the strength to speak out.

David was forced to relive the horrific ordeal in a filmed police interview, revealing how Josh slipped him the drug GHB that left him unable to move, before agreeing to testify in court so that Josh couldn't attack anyone else.

Poor David confessed that he'd been feeling guilty over what had happened, saying, "He raped me and I just feel I should have been able to do something, to stop him, but I couldn’t.

"I didn’t say owt. I didn’t tell anyone. It was like... If I hadn’t had another drink or gone home. I saw lots of different decisions where it wouldn’t have happened." sic

He looked directly into the camera and denied giving his consent to Josh, who was then arrested outside his flat - just as he was about to make a getaway.

Phew!

Fans of the show took to Twitter to share their relief that David had finally spoken up, and to praise actor Jack P. Shepherd for such wonderful acting.
