John Jamieson School & Technology College - £2,840

John Jamieson is an all age generic school which caters for pupils with a range of learning difficulties. These include people with physical and complex needs, pupils with communication difficulties and other children who have specific diagnosis including Autism, Cerebral Palsy, and Downs Syndrome. It currently accommodates 210 pupils. Cash for Kids are funding a Musii which is an interactive music system designed for developmental play and multi-sensory therapy.

West 14, West 11 & AIM Education - £470.21

The West AIP offers an alternative to mainstream education for around 50 young people from the Leeds area. They offer the standard national curriculum plus enhanced time for self-reflection and pastoral care. They aim to re-engage socially excluded learners and remove pockets of marginalised children who remain at risk and with little or no aspirations. After converting a specific learning area they are looking at course in brick-laying, woodwork and plumbing. Cash for Kids are funding various tools to support the classes/courses such as; drill bit set, hand drills, toolboxes and some junior hacksaw blades.

The Friday Youth HUB (C/O Street Work Soccer Academy) - £600

The Friday Youth HUB was set up in one of the most deprived areas of Leeds with high levels of crime and anti-social behaviour. The area suffers with high drug use and this has resulted in some children/young adults becoming involved with drug operations as look outs and runners. The Youth HUB mainly concentrates on running sports-based activities (run by the Street Work Soccer Academy), but they also do cooking classes and craft classes. Cash for Kids are funding various craft sets for one year’s use such as; summer crafts, Halloween crafts, Christmas crafts and sewing kits.

Friends of Phoenix Special School – £1000

The Friends of Phoenix Special School provide stay & play days and staffed day trips for children & families to access activities they are normally excluded from due to their physical disabilities and special needs. They have a sensory room which opens up the children’s lives and gives them stimulation to explore the world around them. Cash for Kids are funding new sensory items for their sensory room worth £1000.

New Bewerley Children’s Centre - £800

The New Bewerley Children’s Centre supply baskets to new mothers who cannot afford them, to ensure that a mother does not co-sleep with the new baby, thus stopping the baby from dying. Beeston, Hunslet and Holbeck area of Leeds have been identified as having very high infant mortality rates. Cash for Kids are going to fund these Moses baskets and mattresses.

Ebor Gardens Primary Academy - £800

The school is situated in a deprived area of Leeds with a community centre. They offer courses, sessions, one to one support and intensive family support for the families from the school as well as the whole community. They have families/children that go to them with nothing. They offer a foodbank, clothes, books and toys. Cash for Kids are going to buy toys, games and books for the children to start a toy library.

Bradford Hospital’s Children’s Charity - £1,500

Bradford Hospital’s Children’s Charity were set up to enhance the lived of children who are attending the paediatric wards, over and above the facilities and services that the government already provide. They play a vital role in raising funds for various aspects such as life-saving equipment, patient & carer support, staff training & development, research and enhancing the hospital environment. Cash for Kids are going to fund role-based toys/items to improve their play and activity rooms which have been proven to improve many of the children’s personal skills. These toys/items include; a role play kitchen, a market stall and other role-playing items.
