Leona Lewis: 'I needed to leave Simon Cowell's record label'
She compares it to a relationship
Leona Lewis has told In:Demand Showbiz that she needed to leave Simon Cowell’s record label Syco.
The 2006 X Factor winner left the imprint last June after seven years, over 13million album sales, a string of sell-out tours and a clutch of chart smashes including the global international anthem ‘Bleeding Love’.
Now Leona is back stronger than ever with a brand new single ‘Fire Under My Feet’ and speaking to our very own Jo Parkerson she said she feels rejuvenated.
Referring to her time at Syco, Leona said: “It started off amazing but towards the end it just got to a point where I just needed to step out of it.
“I do liken it to a relationship because that’s what happens sometimes – you try and hold on for so long when you know you need to let go. That’s kind of what needed to happen.”
Despite the necessary departure, Leona insisted things haven’t turned sour with Simon: “Do you know what, I got a really lovely note from him a little while ago saying that they missed me at the label so yeah it’s all love and it’s fine.”
Leona also spoke up about Louis Walsh’s rumoured departure from Syco. Have a listen to what she had to say here:
