World Pier Crabbing Championships return to Cromer today
Competitors will attempt to win the prestigious prizes of most crabs caught and heaviest crab caught.
Hundreds of people are expected in Cromer today for the return of the World Pier Crabbing Championships.
Competitors will line the pier in an attempt to win the prestigious prizes of most crabs caught and heaviest crab caught.
All of the creatures will be returned to the sea around 10 minutes after being taken out of the water.
Alongside the competition, 80 colourful seahorse statues will be auctioned off, having been used on the festival's art trail this year.
The event will be supported by around 20 food and craft stalls linking the promenade.
Festival Chairman Tony Shipp said: “Hundreds of visitors and local families have followed the Porthole Art Trail through the season, the auction is your chance to bid for your favourite and is the climax to this year’s festival.
“We hope that locals and visitors alike will spend the day with us in Cromer on August 27 and take part in the Crabbing Championships before attending and bidding at the Auction.”
