West Norfolk to get 50 new electric vehicle charging points
It's in a bid to encourage more people to go electric
West Norfolk is to get 52 new electric vehicle charging points acorss seven different locations.
It's part of a West Norfolk council plan to ensure people with limited access to off-street parking still have the choice to go electric.
King's Lynn and West Norfolk Council is spending £73,500 of its own money on the plan. It's also secured £195,000 from the government and £90,000 from energy firm BP.
The 7kW chargers are designed to be used for overnight charging, with drivers able to pay through an app.
West Norfolk Councillor Paul Kunes said:
“The borough of King’s Lynn and west Norfolk is fully committed to playing its part in tackling climate change and has already taken many steps on its own net zero journey. We are also committed to helping our community to do the same.
“There are many factors in making the decision to go electric and access to charging facilities is one of them. Lack of off-street parking at home can pose a barrier but we are removing that by making nearby charging facilities available.
“This means it will be easier for people to make an environmentally-friendly choice when buying a vehicle and it will also benefit our visitors who arrive in electric vehicles.”
Where will the new charging points be built?

North Street Car Park, Burnham Market
