Two people have been rescued, after getting cut off by the tide on the marshes between Wells and Stiffkey.

Wells Inshore Lifeboat launched to help at 4.55pm yesterday (15 September) at the request of Humber Coastguard, but on arrival, weren't able to find the pair.

Coastguards were also searching for them and went to the Stiffkey vantage point, where they were able to see the casualties, who had moved to higher ground.

The lifeboat crew waded through shallow water with the vessel to reach them and found one had aggravated an old leg injury and was unable to walk properly.

The pair was safely returned to Wells Sailing Club slipway at around 6.40pm.
