Vaccine initiative launched for offshore workers in Norfolk
Offshore workers in Norfolk will have better access to jabs.
Offshore workers in Norfolk will now have easier access to their coronavirus jabs thanks to a new collaboration between the NHS, Perenco UK and Mercure Hotel Norwich.
Mike Passfield, Clinical Operations Director for Norfolk and Waveney Large Scale Vaccination Centres, delivered by Cambridgeshire Community Services NHS Trust explained: “Getting the vaccine is the single most important step we can take to protect ourselves and our friends and families against COVID-19; so our priority is to make it as easy as possible for everyone to access vaccinations.
“We’re delighted therefore to be working with Perenco UK to offer Pfizer vaccinations to their offshore workers via an outreach clinic at the Mercure Hotel in Norwich.
“This is a great opportunity for workers returning home via Norwich Airport to drop in for a vaccination to protect themselves, their colleagues, their families and the wider community.”
Jonathan White, General Manager (UK-SNS), Perenco UK added: “Our teams play an important role in maintaining the UK national infrastructure and gas supply, so it’s important we do everything we can to protect them, including encouraging vaccination uptake which in turn will also help protect the wider community.”
“We’re grateful to the local NHS and Mercure Hotel for setting up a vaccination clinic at the hotel, and to Remote Medical International for providing lateral flow testing at the same venue.”
Commenting on behalf of Mercure Hotel, Stuart Collins, Hotel General Manager said: “Located just 1.5 miles from Norwich Airport, we’re in an ideal location to host the vaccination and lateral flow testing clinics and look forward to welcoming the NHS vaccination team to our hotel.
“We’re incredibly proud to be working with the NHS and Perenco UK to support the local roll out of the largest vaccination programme in NHS history.”
Cath Byford, Chief Nurse, NHS Norfolk and Waveney Clinical Commissioning Group, which is overseeing the vaccine roll-out in the area, said: “Every single vaccination is important and is making a difference. It’s incredibly easy for people to get jabbed now and I’d like to remind everyone that vaccinations are our best chance of getting back to doing the things we enjoy most”.
People in Norfolk and Waveney who've not yet had a vaccination can book online or turn up without an appointment at any of the walk-in clinics around the county.
