Senior staff at the University of East Anglia are telling us that around a fifth of their students come through clearing every year.
This comes a A-level results are being handed out in Norfolk and beyond this morning, with these set of grades likely to determine which university pupils will end up going to.
"Take a moment and do some research after you get your results"
Dr Charles Seger is Associate Pro-Vice Chancellor for admissions at UEA.
He explained how clearing works: "You can collect more than one offer and then you can go firm with one from 1pm.
"You will have some time before you have to decide, so you can call us or any university and ask for an extension on that time.
"Take a moment and do some research after you get your results, if you have to.
"Come and visit our campus if you can - we have variety of open events for clearing offer holders, which begin this Friday and go into next week.
"Talk to as many people as you can. We have academics call all of our clearing offer-holders"
