A local University is telling us around a fifth of its annual intake of new students comes through the clearing process.

Around 7,000 students are expected to apply for a course this way tomorrow, which is used to help fill remaining spaces.

An education think-tank says the number of A-level students getting the top grades- is likely to be higher than pre-Covid years.

"We can give you an offer over the phone"

Dr Charles Seger is from the University of East Anglia:

"If you do go into clearing, do make sure that you've got your UCAS ID number to hand, as well as your GCSE and A-level results.

"If you call UEA on Thursday morning, then we can give you an offer over the phone if you're eligible.

"We have a variety for visit and open days at the University, if students are unsure but want to learn and see more.

"They start on this coming Friday and are also on Saturday, Monday and going into next week.

Students can come and visit, see what the campus is like, talk to academics, students and get a feel for the course itself".

How long does the clearing process last for?

According to UCAS, students can apply for a course through clearing between now and 21st October.
