Three charged with manslaughter after body found in Sprowston

It follows an incident in September 2023.

Three men have been charged with manslaughter following the death of Matthew Griggs on 23 September 2023.

It follows an incident on Saturday 23 September 2023 at around 7.45am when police were called to reports a body of a man in his 30s had been found in Church Lane, Sprowston.

Four men were arrested on suspicion of murder and later bailed.

The following three men have since been charged with manslaughter:

  • Andrew Gough, aged 47 and of Bussey Road, Norwich
  • John McDonnell, aged 43 and of Recorder Road, Norwich
  • Jonathon Bristow, aged 45 and of Trafalgar Street, Norwich

All three have been released on conditional bail and are due to appear at Norwich Magistrates Court on 29 April 2025.

The fourth man failed to answer bail and enquiries are ongoing to locate him.
