Teenager dies in hospital after Thetford house fire

A teenager has died in hospital after suffering serious injuries in a house fire in Thetford.

Fire crews were called after 7:30pm last night (May 29) to Staniforth Road, along with police and the ambulance service.

An 18 year old man was taken by air ambulance to Broomfield Hospital in Chelmsford where he passed away earlier today.

Seven people were treated by ambulance crews at the scene. A woman in her 50s was taken to West Suffolk Hospital along with two other people suffering the effects of smoke inhalation.

Two other people were taken to Addenbrookes Hospital for treatment for smoke inhalation and a further person was discharged at scene.

Police are the fire service are carrying out a joint investigation into what happened.
