Teenager charged with absconding from lawful custody in Norfolk

The 17-year-old, who cant be named, is due to appear in court charged with attempted murder

A 17-year-old boy has been arrested and charged with absconding from lawful custody.

The boy was arrested by by officers in Cambridgeshire on Friday 17th May after absconding from local authority care on Saturday 27th April.

He was brought back to Norfolk for questioning at Wymondham and was subsequently charged.

The 17-year-old, who can’t be named for legal reasons, appeared at Norwich Magistrates Court yesterday (18/05).

He was remanded into youth detention to appear at Norwich Crown Court on Thursday 23 May.

The arrest follows an incident in Thetford on Sunday 10th March 2024 when a man in his 30's suffered multiple stab wounds.

The 17-year-old was previously charged with attempted murder, alongside 18-year-old Elvis Price. They are both due to appear at Norwich Crown Court on Thursday 23 May.
