A teaching rep in Norfolk says new pay awards should be fully funded by Government- so good quality teaching is maintained.
Rachel Reeves announced in yesterday's spending review that £2.3 billion a year is going towards fixing crumbling classrooms.
"So many children have been taught in temporary classrooms"
Sam Denham works for the NASUWT in the county:
He says more's needed beyond this as well:
"Supplementary investment does not address the pattern of financial mis-management, excessive executive pay and profiteering in SEND provision, supply teacher agencies, exam boards and academy trusts.
"We hope that the money to fix classrooms and rebuild schools will also come as a separate investment to the headline figure. For too long, so many children have been taught in temporary classrooms"
What else did the Government's spending review have on education?
-Schools will get a cash uplift of more than £4.5 billion a year of additional funding for the core schools budget by the end of the spending review.
-£2.4 billion is being made available every year to rebuild 500 schools
-£370 million is going towards school-based nurseries
Universities and high-tech industries will get a boost in research and development, with it rising to £22 billion per year by the end of the spending review.
