Residents in West Norfolk will still be able to go and get tested for Covid-19 at a number of rapid testing sites next week.

The hubs are aimed at people who don't have symptoms.

One in three people don't show signs of coronavirus so it's hoped the system will help identify people who are unknowingly spreading Covid.

From the week commencing the 22nd February, the following testing sites will be open:

  • Gaywood Close, Old Gaywood and Gaywood North - Fairstead Community Centre
  • North Lynn - St James Swimming Pool
  • Hunstanton - Oasis Leisure Centre

The tests are by appointment only and anyone attending should wear a mask, keep socially distanced, and ensure they have a valid mobile number so they can get their results.

Results are usually provided within 30 minutes of a test.

Anyone who gets a positive result should isolate immediately, they will be referred to test and trace and will need to ensure anyone in their household also self-isolates.

Cllr Stuart Dark MBE, Borough Council of King's Lynn & West Norfolk Cabinet Member for Environmental Services and Public Protection, said: "Numbers of cases in our area continue to decrease, but we must not be complacent.

"I would encourage everyone to take advantage of this opportunity to have a test, if they live or work in one of the above areas, and to have the test repeated at least once a week.

"Anyone of us could have the virus and could be spreading it unknowingly because we do not have any symptoms.

"It is important that we all do our bit to help protect ourselves, protect others and protect west Norfolk."
