Storm Darcy continues to bring disruption across parts of Norfolk again today.

A Met Office yellow weather warning remains in force across the East until midnight on Wednesday 9th February.

Public Health England has extended its cold weather alert through until Friday 12th February.

Travel

The snow has brought with it a lot of disruption in parts of the county with some roads left impassable due to ice and snow drifts.

Norfolk Police is continuing to advise people not to head out on the roads unless absolutely necessary.

T/Superintendent Nathan Clark asked residents to continue to avoid travelling where possible:

"The storm has moved its way quickly inland over the course of today (Sunday), and driving conditions in some areas are awful.

"Partner agencies are working hard to make the roads as safe as possible, but the best thing we can do right now is to stay off them.

"With Government rules dictating that we stay at home anyway, thinking twice about whether you need to make that essential journey right now is sensible.

"Some areas of the county are yet to feel the worst of the weather.

"We don’t want anyone to get hurt, or for anyone to expose themselves or those workers helping others to any more danger than they need to.”

Norfolk Fire and Rescue Service has issued similar advice and thanked staff for their efforts on Monday:

East of England Ambulance Service is encouraging people to check on their vulnerable neighbours if they can do it in a Covid-safe manner.

There have been reports of some country roads becoming impassable due to snow while Greater Anglia says they're experiencing disruption on the main London line.

School closures

Hundreds of schools have been confirming this morning that they'll remain shut for Tuesday 9th Feburary.

That means they're closed to all students, including those who are vulnerable who have key worker parents and carers.

You can find the full list of closures here

Vaccines

Vaccinations are expected to go ahead as planned in Norfolk today.

North Walsham's large-scale centre had to close early yesterday due to the snow, other sites in Norwich, King's Lynn, Attleborough and Wisbech remained open though.

Cambrigeshire Community Services, who are behind the large-scale sites in Norfolk, has confirmed this morning (9th February) that the North Walsham site will be open today.

Norfolk and Waveney CCG says people should attend their appointments if they feel safe doing so but not to put themselves at unnecessary risk.

Anyone who misses an appointment will be able to re-book.

Other disruption

A number of other services across the county have been affected by the weather.

Bin Collections in a number of areas, including Breckland, King's Lynn and North Norfolk were suspended yesterday.

North Norfolk District Council's confirmed similar disruption today.

East Suffolk Council's already confirmed they won't be able to make up for lost time today due to roads still being very icy.

Anyone who's had a bin collection missed is encouraged to leave it out for when collection is possible.

The Royal Mail has said in a statement that they've been out delivering and collecting wherever it's safe to do so but said some addresses may experience disruption due to the adverse weather conditions.
