Things like libraries will re-open

Key council services suspended during lockdown will reopen today (2 December) and tomorrow, as national restrictions end.

Services suspended when lockdown started and which will resume tomorrow include libraries and weddings. Adult learning courses will continue online, pending a review next month (January). The Norwich Castle, Tide and Time and Lynn Museums will reopen from 3 December.

All council services will comply with the tier two rules that will apply to Norfolk from today.

Council leader Councillor Andrew Proctor said:

"During lockdown, we continued to support vulnerable people and kept schools, public transport and recycling sites operating.

"All our services will operate in a Covid-secure manner and it's really important we follow the Government's rules, to minimise the spread of the virus.

"If we all do this, we stand a better chance of moving into tier one as soon as possible and getting on the path to a more normal life next year."

The council will continue to monitor its services and, if regulations and circumstances change, it will review its current plans.
