Serial Thetford burglar jailed after targeting shops and school
Sergin Catalin Danaila will spend more than three years behind bars
A Thetford man has been jailed after admitting to being involved in more than a dozen burglaries in the town.
28 year old Sergin Catalin Danaila, of Guildhall Street, was sentenced to three years and four months behind bars at Norwich Crown Cout yesterday (May 31).
He admitted to 14 counts of burglary and one of theft. He targeted homes, businesses and charity shops in the town between October 2019 and February 2022.
He also had 6 burglary offences taken into consideration.
He was linked to a burglary at a school in Bridge Street in November 2021 during which computer equipment worth £10,000 was taken.
Danaila also carried out two burglaries at the same charity shop in Magdalen Street, as well as one at a church in the town.
Sgt Daniel Shelley of Norfolk Constabulary said: “Burglary is an intrusive crime and Danaila stole from charities, people and businesses trying to earn a living.
"We never underestimate the impact it can have on victims, and I’m pleased that through our investigations we have been able to bring him to justice and reunite stolen property with its rightful owners.
“Officers showed ingenuity and determination to catch the man responsible for more than a dozen burglaries over a number of years, and I’m pleased to say Thetford is a safer place with Danaila behind bars.”
