Police urge drivers to stay vigilant after spate of thefts from vehicles in Norwich

23 vehicles were broken into in two weeks

Police are reminding drivers in Norwich to stay vigilant and lock their vehicles when they leave them, following several thefts from cars and vans in November.

Between 3rd November and 17th November, a total of 23 vehicles were broken into, with cash, purses, wallets and bags among the items stolen from vehicles in New Catton, Thorpe Hamlet and Eaton.

Norfolk Police have now issued this advice to prevent thefts:

  • Remove any valuables on display
  • Take your belongings with you when you leave the car, if you cannot then lock them in the boot out of sight
  • Park in well-lit places
  • Lock all doors and close all windows when the vehicle is unattended
  • Fit security devices such as electronic immobiliser, vehicle alarms
  • Keep your keys safe
  • Make sure key locks have power so doors are securely locked
