Police have arrested a man on suspicion of rape in connection with an incident in Chapelfield Gardens in Norwich.

The incident happened shortly after 11pm on Monday 10 June, when a man was raped near the bandstand.

Enquiries led officers to arrest a man in his 30s in Beccles last night (Monday 17 June). He has been taken to Great Yarmouth Police Investigation Centre for questioning, where he remains.

Officers would like to hear from anyone who was in Chapelfield Gardens between 11pm and 11.45pm on the night of Monday 10 June.

Detective Chief Inspector Kevin Barber from Broadland CID said, "Our appeal for witnesses or any information is ongoing and I would urge anyone who was in the area to come forward regardless of whether or not they believe they saw anything.”

“We would particularly like to hear from anyone who saw two men entering Chapelfield Gardens from the direction of Little Bethel Street and from anyone who may have seen a male dressed in dark clothing running off in the direction of or along Chapelfield Road.”
