A Norfolk plumber is urging people not to hold off on getting their boilers serviced to save money.

It's as we continue to face freezing temperatures and the ongoing cost of living crisis.

Nat McAllister is a plumber in Norfolk.

She says holding out on paying for repairs can actually end up costing more in the long run: "According to our latest surveys, just 16% of people said they'd recently had their boiler serviced...

"I think people are obviously feeling the pinch, understandably, but it's those kind of things where prevention is absolutely crucial.

"If issues aren't prevented they could then become quite costly."

Nat said prevention was also key to keeping our pipes healthy, suggesting people who'd completely turned their heating off in an attempt to save money mightn't be doing themselves any favours: "Having no heat in your pipes can be dangerous. It means they can freeze and become inefficient...

"Have them on a low temperature just to keep water, and heat, circulating. It doesn't use any more water and doesn't necessarily use more energy, but it will keep the pipes at a steady temperature which will stop the pipes from freezing, and potentially bursting.

"Look at prevention, rather than a cure."
