Man jailed for almost four years after Norwich robbery

He also threatened emergency workers

A man has been sentenced to three years and nine months in prison after robbing a man after a night out Norwich.

34 year old Nathan Bettles, formerly of Napier Road in Luton, admitted to robbery during a hearing Norwich Crown Court last week (March 6).

It happened in the early hours of November 6 last year, when Bettles approached a man in his 30s in the London Street area.

The victim was left with injuries to his head and face and had his mobile phone and bank cards taken.

He had to be treated in hospital.

The incident was captured on CCTV and Bettles was arrested a few days later. He was found to be carrying a screwdriver and was aggressive towards officers as he was detained.

He later admitted possession of a blade and assaulting an emergency worker, as involvemment in the London Street robbery.

Six other offences were taken into consideration by the court.

Duncan Etchells, of Norfolk Police, said: “This was a shocking and unprovoked attack on someone who was just walking home after a night out.

“After some excellent work by city centre officers, we charged and remanded Bettles into custody and then investigated further to see if any similar offences matched the circumstances of this offence. This resulted in him admitting further offences.”
