Norwich postman claims city is the "most generous place on Earth" as residents help him achieve dream
Jonny Wilson has been doing the rounds for 16 years and hopes to raise money for Make-a-Wish by taking part in the London Marathon
A postman from Norwich has claimed the city is the "most generous place on Earth".
After local people have started pitching in to help him raise money for Make a Wish and race at this years London Marathon.
Jonny Wilson has been with Royal Mail and serving the area for 16 years.
He says local people were really supportive when he grew his hair and beard out in 2020:
"Every time I hit a target they would come out and clap me. We managed to raise over £7,000, that was thanks to help from customers and the people of Norwich more generally. It made it worthwhile and helped to keep me going through the hard-times".
He's confident he can raise more than planned:
"I've said around £2,500, but I know I can smash that. Every time I go out and do a sponsored event people come out and support me, so I'm more than confident I can smash that target again.
I've got four healthy children and I don't take that for granted, so if I can give some parents some magic moments that we get on regular occasion, that would be fantastic".
He concluded by telling us that he's not cutting any corners when it comes to preparing for October's event:
"It's definitely been gruelling. At the minute I'm training twice a day and work is making that slightly harder. But I'm just of the view that the harder times will mean it's easier on the day. I'm looking to enjoy it, if you can enjoy a marathon that is".
