Norwich charity: important Easter Weekend doesn't focus around food
Around a quarter of those who suffer who with an eating disorder, in the UK, are men- according to BEAT
An charity in Norfolk that supports those with eating disorder is telling us it's important the long Easter Weekend doesn't focus around food.
Beat, based in Norwich, estimates that well over one million people suffer from an eating disorder of some kind, across the UK.
While, around a quarter of those who suffer with a condition of this kind, in the UK, are men.
"It's also really important to plan ahead"
Umairah Malik is from the group:
"Sometimes things will go wrong and it's important to know what you might do in those situations.
"So, if you're somebody who's supporting somebody it might be good to know beforehand, what you'll do if somebody brings up something that's well meaning, but upsetting".
She told us what 'helpful distractions' look like:
"That might be playing board-games, going for walks, watching films together. It's also really important to plan ahead and discuss what's going to be happen.
"It's so important to talk about how and when food is going to be involved- so that can be really reassuring for those who have an eating disorder".
