Norfolk woman saved by medical charity is running the London Marathon to raise money for them
Flora Archer is taking on the challenge after the East Anglian Air Ambulance saved her life nine years ago
A woman living nearing Dereham who was saved by a medical charity is running the London Marathon in the spring to raise money for them.
Flora Archer is taking on the challenge, after the East Anglian Air Ambulance arrived at her home in Scarning nine years ago, after she banged her head and had a seizure.
"It's linked the two together"
She told us more about her chosen charity:
"It's always something that I've wanted to do. I've seen other people do and thought 'wow, that would be so fantastic. I needed the air ambulance and it saved my life, so it's linked the two together.
"Like most people living in Norfolk, I live in a rural community. The Air Ambulance were there in moments and they had a doctor onboard- it meant she the doctor could take over my breathing and stop me fitting. It was her expertise and the quick response that saved me".
"I'm thankfully absolutely fine, now. I'm on regular epilepsy medication but touch wood I haven't had anymore episodes. It seems to be under control now and I'm so thankful for the Air Ambulance's help"
"Never know when you're going to need them"
Flora also went on to tell us about how training's been going:
"I ran my first half-marathon in Huntington a couple of weeks ago. It's going well, aside from dark evenings and wet conditions. But I'm enjoying it and it's a challenge".
"I've set the fundraising target of £2,000. But I do hope I can get a little more than that. I come from a farming community and the Air Ambulance have saved so many of my friends, family and colleagues. You never know when you're going to need them"
The race takes place on April the 21st. You can donate here.
