Norfolk tennis chair talks up Alfie Hewett's chances of Wimbledon glory
The 27 year-old from Cantley will get his campaign underway from July 8th, at the earliest
The man in charge of a tennis group near Norwich says local-lad Alfie Hewett has every chance of winning a championship, this month.
The 27 year-old from Cantley is first in the world when it comes men's wheelchair doubles and second in the singles category.
Hewett's campaign will get underway from July the 8th at the earliest.
"That's the one area where the local game could be improved overall"
Chris Mitchell plays the sport in Cringleford:
"He Alfie Hewett has every chance of title when you look at how well he's being playing in both formats and where he sits in the world rankings.
"Beyond that we have one or two Brits don't we, such as Jack Draper, who have got a very good chance of doing well in this tournament or getting to the final rounds.
He says the local game is currently in a strong place:
"As a club we're finding that there's a great deal of interest in playing tennis generally. We have a lot of men's and ladies' playing individually and in teams
"The one thing is there isn't a great deal of is in-door facilities locally, which does restrict play obviously with how the weather is in this country.
"That's the one area where the local game could be improved overall.
"There always seems to be more interest in the sport around now due to Wimbledon. But we've got to remember that it's a well established and popular sport here.
