Police granted more time to question suspects over murder of Norfolk teen
An 18 year old died in Ipswich last Tuesday
Detectives investigating the murder of a Norfolk teenager have been granted more time to question two teenagers.
It follows the death of 18 year old Raymond James Quigley, known as James, who was from Wymondham and died after being stabbed in Ipswich last Tuesday.
The incident took place on Westgate Street around 3.35pm on Tuesday 17 January.
He was approached by two other males and stabbed, with the suspects then heading off in different directions.
Police units and ambulance crews arrived quickly but James died at the scene.
A Home Office post-mortem examination was conducted on Thursday 19 January, and concluded that James sustained four stab wounds to the torso and died as a result of these injuries.
Following numerous lines of enquiry, police arrested a 17-year-old boy and an 18-year-old man on Saturday 21 January in connection with the incident.
The pair, both from the Ipswich area, have been arrested on suspicion of murder and attempted murder.
Yesterday (Sunday 22 January), detectives made an application for a warrant of further detention at Ipswich Magistrates’ Court, where they were granted an additional 36 hours to question the suspects. This will expire in the early hours of Tuesday morning, 24 January.
