People in Norfolk are among those raising money for those affected by last week's devastating earthquakes in Turkey and Syria.

A Norfolk pub has raised £400 for the victims.

The money was generated by 'The Garden House' in Norwich, who held a pub quiz on Monday evening.

The pub has previously collected funds for those in Ukraine and Afghanistan, over the past few years.

"It's a credit to the area and to the local students"

Jonathon Childs is the owner of the pub, and organised this event:

"It's immensely cold in the evenings there and there are still people trapped, which is heart-breaking to see. We know some people in the Turkish community, and they asked us if we could help.

"So, we did the right thing and started our campaign. The other events you can plan ahead with, but with an earthquake you just can't.

"The students were very good and some of the locals raised some money. The quiz master did a brilliant job and I think 149 people come to the quiz. It's a credit to the area and to the local students. Whenever we put a call out they come."

"So we can target it as effectively as possible"

He says they've got plenty more fundraising plans as well:

"There is a Turkish barber who is going to shave my hair off on the 25th of February. We are also doing a big raffle that day, hopefully to raise more money.

"Then we can send more to where it's needed. We are talking to some of the community now, so we can target it as effectively as possible."
