Norfolk Police are marking National Police Memorial Day )26 September.

A service is being held at Lincoln Cathedral in Lincolnshire to remember fallen colleagues.

Norfolk Police and Crime Commissioner Giles Orpen-Smellie said:

"Police officers being dedicated and vocational people, keep turning up for work. Their families, who understand the ethos keep supporting them in that and we get the benefit of that. We get to go about our lives, because the thin blue line is still there, even if we don't notice it.

"They are literally out there 24/7, 52 weeks a year. They run into danger when others run away from danger and they keep us safe, but we keep them for granted.

"While National Police Memorial Day is a low profile event, I hope people will be aware of it and will respect it."
