Norfolk Police hopes to bolster number of detectives in force with new recruitment campaign
'Uncover the Truth' is the first direct entry detective constable campaign held in the county.
Last updated 23rd Sep 2020
The recruitment campaign allows applicants to enter the service and train to become a detective, without the need for two years of experience as a uniformed beat officer.
Detective Chief Superintendent Chris Balmer, Head of Safeguarding and Investigations in Norfolk, said:
"This is a really exciting opportunity for people with existing skills that could be used in the world of policing.
"Detective work is challenging and complex. You’ll deal with a range of incidents including burglary, robberies, assaults or sudden deaths, but finding the truth and getting results for victims is incredibly rewarding."
If applicants meet the criteria they will be invited for assessments and interviews and, if successful, will join as a police officer and receive training before going into Safeguarding and Investigations.
The force is hoping to increase the number of detectives they have, as part of investments in its investigative capability and capacity.
A live chat with DCS Balmer and Detective Inspector Chris Burgess is being held at 6.30pm this evening, (23 September), where they will speak about their roles and answer any questions.
It's being held on the force's website.
