Norfolk pensioner jailed for child sex offences
Terence Duck has appeared at King's Lynn Crown Court.
A man in his 70s has been jailed for committing sexual offences against a child.
Terence Duck, aged 71, of Eastmoor Road, Oxborough, appeared at King's Lynn Crown Court on Thursday 7 November 2024 after pleading guilty to inciting a child aged under 16 to engage in sexual activity, attempting sexual activity with a child, and sexual activity with a child.
He was sentenced to two years in prison, and has been given a Sexual Harm Prevention Order for ten years.
A victim impact statement, read aloud in court on behalf of the victim, detailed the impact of Duck's offending.
It said: “Having him do these things to me has really affected my trust in people. I do not know how I feel or how to cope with what has happened.
"It has taken a heavy load off my mind knowing that he pleaded guilty. I now know what is going to happen and this provides me with some comfort that I am safe from him.
"I feel vindicated and listened to, and hopefully now I can begin to recover”.
Following the sentencing, the officer in charge of the case Detective Constable Stuart Sansbury said: “The nature of Terence Duck's offending, and the impact this has had on the child victim is deplorable.
"They should not have had to suffer in this way.
"However, it offers some comfort knowing that the victim feels that they’ve been listened to, and that today’s sentencing offers some solace and closure.
"They showed a lot of bravery coming forward."
