Simon Kindleysides has warned of the continuing threat of Covid-19, after being hospitalised with the virus in Scotland.

The Norfolk fundraiser, who was the first paralysed man to walk the London Marathon in 2018, had been doubled vaccinated when he contracted the virus after attending a funeral. He told us that he felt quite fatigued and had an irritating cough days before he first tested positive for the virus.

He recalled to us how he soon deteriorated, became unresponsive and didn't know where he was, shortly after having a PCR test, before being taken to hospital by paramedics on the 15th of August.

In spite of being hospitalised with Covid-19 for ten days, Mr Kindleysides insist his condition "would have been fifty times worse" if he hadn't of had both jabs and that he "wouldn't have been able to cope" against the virus.

This comes after he told us that his lungs collapsed from consistent coughing, he still has pain running down his back and front and doctors have informed him that his current breathlessness will remain with him for "many months".

He says that those who believe Covid-19 isn't that bad, "need to see it with their own eyes". Mr Kindleysides told us he's been in the same ward as a number vaccinated patients who have been "so ill" with the virus.

Mr Kindleysides admits it was very tough having to deal with the crippling effects of the virus alone and away from his friends and family. Especially considering he thought "he wasn't going to pull through". However, he told us that he's proud to have beaten Covid and is looking forward to recovering outside of the hospital
