The head of a local food-bank is telling us they've seen a 19% fall in the number of people they support.

It's after work from the Trussell charity found that over 1 million in the East had to go hunger, last year, due to a lack of money.

That's the equivalent of 1 in 8 households in the region.

"There's also growing concerns about the two child benefit cap"

Hannah Worsley is project manager at Norwich foodbank:

"I heard a story yesterday about somebody getting an extra £200 a month, just by doing that check and being told that they can get more help.

"We often find, and we know, that there's millions going on billions that are not being claimed each year"

She told us change is needed to help keep these numbers low:

"At the moment universal credit payments don't cover people's essentials. There's been a lot of research on that and we highlighted it further during our lobby day earlier in the year.

"There's also growing concerns about the two child benefit cap, which might be pushing some people into poverty

What have ministers said on this?

The Government says it's tackling child poverty by investing in family hubs and rolling out free school meals.
